If you are a music lover you already know that vinyl records are hot. They now outsell CDs. The wealth of international jazz, both old and new and classic R&B available on 180 gram, transparent or colored disks, or just plain old black LPs are a joy to delve into. They may be in new updated packaging or they can be near perfect recreations of classic LPs right down to the fine print on the label.
Yes, records are prone to pops and clicks from dust and less than perfect pressing. But vinyl lovers know that side by side vinyls do seem warmer than CDs and downloads. Also there is that physical presence in your hands and of course the joy of unwrapping that new purchase and watching that stylus drop onto a new record for the first time.
Return To Vinyls Podcast is created by David Husom. He is not a musician so you will not hear about diminished 7th chords or Lydian modes (well not much anyway). Instead this podcast focuses on what makes the great music that we love, and the stories behind the creation and the creators. As a working visual artist and retired professor in Art, Journalism and Liberal Studies he has spent his life surrounded by creative people in the arts.
He brings that perspective of the creative process to Return To Vinyls. The podcast goes beyond just music—looking at the process and work that goes behind creating music and art; our perception of sound and light; art and nature, music and nature and music and art; and how music and arts move from the fringe to the mainstream. It is more than just another record review podcast and website Return To Vinyls is about stories, wonderful musical stories.
That is what this podcast — Return To Vinyls — is all about.
